Overview

Date: February 2014

Client: Telstra

Industry: Telecommunications

The new regenerator site was required to be constructed at Jinidi to meet Telstra’s transmission capacity requirements in the northwest of Western Australia. The new regenerator is part of the large capacity optic fibre and transmission infrastructure for major customers and networks in NW WA.

Features

The new site is one of the largest passive sites Telstra has constructed with a capacity of 1000W requiring a bespoke Passive Shelter design and first large solar design of its type to handle this capacity.

It is the first transmission regenerator site to use the new Eltek hybrid solar / diesel generator power system (previously only used for mobiles sites). It is also the first Telstra site to use a hybrid system of this capacity, and the first hybrid system with the batteries located inside.

Outcome

The on-site civil works were carried out in difficult terrain during the wet season by our Western Australian Field Services Team. The project was managed by ICS Industries as a turn-key solution taking in design through to construction.
